Voice over Internet Protocol in short referred as VoIP, is a technology using “Internet Protocol” for communicating instead of using traditional analog systems. Where your regular phone uses analog connection for communicating, VoIP uses internet connection to make telephone calls. Some of the VoIP services may allow the user only to call other people using the same service (VoIP), but there are others which allow calling any telephone number – including local, international, long distance and wireless numbers.
How VOIP Internet service works
With VoIP, your voice is transmitted over the internet. This technology converts the voice signal from your phone into a digital signal and transmits it to the receiver over the internet. Depending on the type of VoIP service you have subscribed to, you can make a VoIP call either from a computer/laptop, a special VoIP phone, or a regular traditional phone that can be used or without an adapter. Also, you can find wireless services available in public areas like café’s, parks, institutions, airports, railway stations. They are referred as “hot spots”, which are generally free of cost and allow you to connect to the internet. These facilities allow you to use VoIP service wirelessly. You need not throw away your existing telephone equipment; most VoIP services allow you to use regular telephone number and you need not spend money on any special equipment and you can dial just as the way you always have.
Why to choose VOIP internet service
Earlier, when internet was costly to use, VoIP was not considered as a feasible option for organizations. But as the VoIP technology has matured and high speed internet has become cheap and is available everywhere, more and more businesses are jumping to VoIP leaving behind conventional analogous landlines. VoIP services almost sound magical for its users. Easy to install, flexible to use, feature rich and above all it is the cheapest method to place calls, whether domestic or international as compared to the traditional service providers. Hence, I must say, that this cord cutting movement has a bright future as an increasing number of businesses are ditching the traditional way of communication.
Considerable point before opt VOIP internet service
There are few points which an enterprise should decide before choosing VoIP internet services. The cost of installing VoIP depends on the size of your company and the infrastructure that is already in place. This decision might take you to a level where VoIP installation cost next to nothing or the organization can entail heavy up-front costs. The internet service for VoIP is so cheap that even home broadband connections can handle several VoIP calls simultaneously (but you will have to leave enough bandwidth for other applications as the more simultaneous users you have, more should be the bandwidth). If you work alone out of a home office, or if you have only a few employees, your cost will not be much as you require less bandwidth. But make sure that the internet network, that includes switches and routers, can handle the load so that the voice quality is not interrupted. Also, there are many options to choose from the settings. But no matter which option you chose, using VoIP phones is easy to use and VoIP internet service has made the services very affordable for the business houses.
